Muhammad al-Maghut's tragicomedy, in which a café troupe's farce wakes a furious historical hero.
I was assistant designer to Ashraf Hanna on The Clown, the Arab Theatre's second production, directed by Mahmoud Qadah. It premiered in July 2023.
About the piece
A café theatre troupe performs a farce about Abd al-Rahman al-Dakhil, "the Hawk of Quraysh". The real historical figure wakes up, furious, and the play turns into a tragicomic comparison between a glorious past and the present.
